Have you ever felt tiresome after spending your day on a futile pursuit? Doing a vain activity by garnering followers, likes comments? From Scrolling Feeds on Social Apps to peeping out into others’ life, Social Media has equipped our daily lives in every aspect.
Social Media is one of the most popular online activities. Research by Global WebIndex shows that globally, 59.3% of the world’s population uses Social Media. The average daily usage is 2 hours and 29 minutes (October 2022).
4.74 billion social media users around the world.
What is Social Media?
An App or a Website that enables us to interact among people in which we can create, share or exchange information? Or Hacking into someone’s privacy as well. lol!
But What has Social Media turned into?
This term reminds me of a comment from the book “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” by Mark Manson, i.e
“HEY LOOK MY LIFE IS COOLER THAN YOURS, SOCIAL MEDIA.”
More than 300 million photos get uploaded per day, People share their fake happiness on Social Media.
A guy bought a Rolls Royce for himself and uploaded the unwrapping video on social media. The same guy doesn’t have a family or someone to share his problems with and is depressed all the time.
“The desire for a more positive experience is itself a negative experience. And, paradoxically, the acceptance of one’s negative experience is itself a positive experience.”
~ Mark Manson
The desire for the same positive experience, unwrapping a Rolls Royce, made you have a negative experience—Eagerness, Guilt, Feeling Low, and some other negative feelings depending upon your situation,—Which is an absolute mind-fuck.
The more you desperately want to be rich, the more poor and unworthy you feel.
We see photos of people on vacation while we’re stuck in traffic, or scrolling through the feed and seeing perfect families when you’re feeling lonely. We compare ourselves to others and feel like we can never measure up.

Social Media is Ruining Our Lives.
We are constantly bombarded with what other people are doing, and that makes us feel bad about our own lives. I feel like I am living in the center of a social media storm. For instance, there’s this girl who is posting 24/7 about her life on Instagram. It’s like she has nothing to do all day and she is trying to capture people’s attention in any way possible. As if that wasn’t enough, there are also these guys who will post pictures of them doing push-ups or lifting weights every five minutes.
In a nutshell, Social Media is a scam, People sharing deceptive joy. The celebrities you follow and think their life is heaven, are fucked up in their real life. I think social media has ruined our society because now people are constantly comparing their lives to someone else’s and this is a cause of Depression, and we need to overcome this disease ASAP.
